I've had this series on my TBR list for a couple years and finally have had time to read it. I am devouring it very quickly too as the saga of journalist Rebekka Franck is really good. The author has done a wonderful job of fleshing out her character, and the others, and it's fun to see how her personal story has grown in these first three books. The best part is the exciting thriller storylines that the author has come up with. Not for the squeamish at all! Yikes! This book starts out with a man called "The Priest" from a well-known cult dying a horrific death. How and why did this occur? And will Rebekka be able to pull more information from the very private people of the cult than the police have gotten so far? As more and more people die of these mysteries deaths, others start to become sick too. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and the pace was so fast that the book was over before I knew it. I'm finding that this author is good at hooking the reader into the story and not letting go until the end--something that I can't get enough of. Can't wait to dig into book #4. Another great addition to the series. Could very well be read as a stand alone but if you're a thriller fan, read them all!Tags : Five, Six ... Five Six Grab your Crucifix Rebekka Franck Book 3 edition by Willow Rose Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This was nuts! The clincher is the tie-in to the book "Edwina", which I now want to re-read!!! Just love the chemistry of the characters & this so far was my favorite book of the series. This can be read as a stand alone book - you can read it without having to read the previous books in the series as far as the plot goes. After I finished this book, I realized that Willow Rose has a fantastic imagination! A must read for both fans of Willow & those looking for a really, really good (and crazy religious cult) mystery.
Spellbinding story of a religious cult, how it treats it's members and the mysterious way it's leaders start to die horrible public deaths. On the scene to help unravel the mystery is journalist Rebeka and her photographer Sune. As their relationship grows, her family is also pulled into the mysterious murders and tensions ratchet ever higher. A thoroughly suspenseful read.
Having read Edwina first, this book was the perfect "next" book. Edwina left off with someone offering to take her in, in spite of the destruction she leaves behind her wherever she goes. In this book we are introduced to the violent deaths of lead cult members. The author keeps us guessing how and where Edwina actually fits in. Did she develop super evil powers? Only time will tell... read this book to find out.
Ok, this one took me by complete surprise. Whilst the first two thrillers about journalist Rebecca Franck are exciting due to multiple layers and stories in the same story, this one takes a completely different turn. The style is more horror than thriller - I actually got scared several times when I read it! I like the change - and want more of the same in the next books!
Ok, first, I am loving this series. The characters and plots so far has me hooked and ready for more. But my complaints on this book and they are ones that I actually had to stop reading this book so I can write this review
(1) OMG!! The length of the paragraphs! They are insanely long!!!!!!! One paragraph last 2 1/2 pages on my kindle. Not sure if it's because of my e-reader instead of an actual book I'm reading from, but WOW! I don't know if it bugged anyone else but I actually made 3 comments within minutes out loud & I was alone in the room!! That's how annoying it is.
(2) spelling errors - there are quite a few but to me, not unexpected
(3) Suna acts like a child while teh actual childen in the book act like adults. It seems like every little thing that he disagrees with concerning Rebeka, he throws a tantrum & pouts. Group up dude!
So I felt like I had share. Great series but .... it might be a little thing to most but it is just a distraction for me. Hence the 3 star rating. That and I haven't finished yet.
This book was OK. It was an interesting story with some strange twists. Some of the graphic detail again seemed unnecessary and vulgar. I enjoy the character of Rebekka and her relationship with her father and her daughter, but I find her and Sune to be unbelievable. They way they interact isn't real. Their arguments are too forced, and all she does is lament about how immature he is. I liked this book better than the second one, but the first is still the best of the 3.
I love the Rebekka Franck series. This book is good; it deals with both a delusional religious cult and the effects of Polonium-210, the radioactive element that killed Alexander Litvinenko. While the book was an enjoyable read, for the most part, it dragged a little in places. Sune's reactions seemed out of character at times as well. There is also one section that veers into TV fiction versus the reality I like from this series. While the shared hallucination of the victims could be plausible, given the fact that each person's involvement in certain activities was likely the most scarring event of his or her life, the events in the epilogue push the matter into the realm of the supernatural instead. This actually lessens the impact of the overall novel. One of the things that I like about the Rebekka Franck books compared to the Emma Frost books is the lack of the supernatural and the plausibility of the plot. A theme of this book diminishes that difference. Nevertheless, the story is entertaining and a bit educational.
